Sacred Marriage

"What if God designed marriage to make us holy more than to make us happy?"

About a year ago, I was introduced to this book by a sweet friend of mine. I started it, then stopped, then started again.... and so on and so forth. Have you ever read a book that was so deep, so seriously important, that sometimes you just had to walk away and re-evaluate your life? Then, you re-read a chapter to make sure you fully understood what it was saying? Captivating anyone? (that is one of those books for women if you can get through it... definitely worth it) This is soooo one of those books. It has taken me almost a year to finish it! I think part of it is that I have been so busy with, well, life. But if I am honest with you all and myself, a big part of the problem was me. I will spare you all of the details, but John and I have decided to read through this book together over the next few weeks. I love my husband, more than words can say, and I feel that we have a good marriage, possibly even great most days. However, I have felt the Lord tugging at my heart over the past few weeks to seek Him wholeheartedly and I feel that this is an amazing opportunity for the two of us to experience together.

Have any of you read this book? What did you think? Any advice for us????

Smiles,
Meredith

I haven't read it but it sounds intriguing. I may make my hubs do it with me....

Hi. That sounds like a book I could use, I have not been very deep-thinking lately; I feel like I am just zooming through life, trying to juggle it all.

I am so sorry about the fumbled root canal, that sounds miserable.... I hope you feel OK now. Root canals actually aren't as bad as they seem, I've learned--but BREAKING YOUR JAW?! Whew. That just stinks. I hope they didn't charge you for that pleasure!!!

Seeing that snake gave me chills!!! My little girl and I were in the zoo a few weeks ago and all of a sudden they started feeding the boa constrictor little baby bunnies and I was like, Sabrina, we HAVE to go now, she didn't quite get what was going on, but then i heard her telling the babysitter last night, "Oh, and we were at the zoo, and the snake ate something and it went all the way down to his tail and my mommy didn't know what it was but she said we had to go."

Such a great book. I'm so glad your husband is reading through it with you. I feel like you can apply the main theme of the book to most situations in life. It's not fun when God's intention is our sanctification rather than our enjoyment. His ways are higher than ours though.

I read that book a few years ago and thought it was amazing. Reading this post makes me want to take it out and read through it again. I think it is a great idea to read through it together.

I clicked over here from Kelly's Blog Prayer. The word "seizures" caught my heart! My oldest son is a special needs child and has been dealing with seizures for 9 years. It's a daily struggle. My middle son had petit mal seizures when he was two, but grew out of them after two years. My daughter has febrile seizures. So, I know a littel somethin' about seizures. Just letting you know, you're not alone! I'll keep you in my prayers.

Oh, and on the gluten free diet, a good friend of mine has a 4 yr. old on it. HUGE difference in their life!

Take care.
